Top Rated! LiveWell is a medical alert company that specializes in top quality medical alarms, including the Libris mobile auto fall detection system and the GoMobile with nationwide 2-way voice protection. (Details below)
All of the units they offer have two-way voice communication through the pendant.
Since I think this is pretty much the most important feature of a life alert, you can guess that I’m very positive about this company.
For years I didn’t really recommend mobile alerts because I didn’t like models that were on the market. (And I really didn’t like the prices some companies charged for these sub-standard models.)
However, LiveWell has found two strong units, including one mobile medical alert with automatic fall detection and they’re offering them at a fair price.
Special benefits of LiveWell:
In addition to providing industry standard emergency monitoring through CSAA 5 Diamond certified emergency response center (that’s the industry’s highest standard), LiveWell’s medical alerts also come with extra services I haven’t seen from any other providers.
1. NurseAssist. With your medical alert you get unlimited 24/7 access to an advice nurse program and access to a library of medical information on over 1,000 issues. (Over 500 of these documents are available in Spanish.)
2. One Touch Personal Health Record. What if you have complicated medical conditions? You need first responders and the doctors at the hospital to know your condition and your history. With the One Touch PHR, included with your medical alert system, LiveWell helps you maintain a secure, private repository of your critical medical information. In an emergency, this information can be shared with health professionals according to your wishes. You could easily pay $10 to $50 a month for a service like this.
3. Monthly wellness checks. Every LiveWell client gets assigned to a personal care manager who is their go-to person for any questions or concerns. About once a month your personal care manager will check in with you to make sure everything is going well with your medical alert system. They’ll also ask you about any updates to your personal health record and make sure the information that’s on file for the emergency responders is still correct. This is an incredible service and so different from all the other medical alert companies that just ship you a unit and do their best to forget about you.
LiveWell’s mobile medical alerts
LiveWell offers two different mobile medical alerts. Both have 2-way voice in the small pendant, and connect to the monitoring center through a nationwide cellular network. They give you protection at home and on the go.
The LiveWell Libris with auto fall detection:
This is the latest and greatest mobile medical alert on the market, with great battery life, simple operation, and a sophisticated fall detection algorithm. One button connects you to the professional monitoring center no matter where you are (as long as there’s a cell signal available). It’s waterproof, so you don’t have to remove it in the shower or bath, where many accidents take place. It uses both GPS and cellular info to locate you for emergency responders if you’re unable to tell the monitoring center your location. The pricing is comparable to non-mobile systems from Medical Guardian or Philips LifeLine. (But those units only work in your home, and they rely on old-school speakerphones for communication.)

The LiveWell GoMobile alert:
The GoMobile Alert is your best choice for a mobile medical alert if you don’t want or need the fall detection capability of the Libris. It’s smaller and lighter (just 1.2 ounces). It’s designed to be worn in the shower, but it’s not actually “waterproof,” so don’t submerse it in water. One of the best features is that the battery lasts a couple of months between charges. That’s unheard-of in cellular medical alerts, and is a big step forward in convenience. Also it tests itself every 24 hours so you’re always assured that the unit is functional. It doesn’t have true GPS, but it uses built-in cell tower location technology to share your location with the emergency response operator if you can’t communicate. All that for a few dollars more per month than you’d pay for a home-based alert.
