Sandra wrote me the other day to ask:
My questions were for the LogicMark Freedom Alert product. I agree that the Medipendant is the closest to what I am looking for because I want a speaker built into the unit. My parents’ house is 2 stories so they really need to be able to talk into the pendant not yet through the house. But at $36 per month the cost is way too high. I know, you’re going to see but what’s the cost compared to the value? Well, with 2 sons in very expensive private colleges, money is tight and that $36 a month is too much. So we are looking at the non-monitored one-time cost unit because it has a speaker built in. But what I need to know is, what happens with this unit if it dials the first number and it gets an answering machine? Does it not dial the next number because the first call was answered? That would be my main concern with this product.
I answered:
The LogicMark Freedom Alert won’t get stuck on answering machines. It can recognize that it didn’t reach a real person and will keep dialing. You can either set it to try everyone once then dial 911, or if you don’t include 911 in the program it will cycle around to every number 9 times before giving up.
It’s true that over time I’ve become more of a fan of the monitored medical alerts like Medipendant, but I completely understand the need to keep a tight hold on monthly expenses. With the LogicMark Freedom Alert you’re paying $279 up front but there are no fees after that. Plus, you might be able to sell the unit when it’s no longer needed.
If you do decide to go ahead with it, I’d love it if you would use one of these two links to purchase. They are “affiliate links,” which means that I will get a small commission if you purchase after using them. These commissions are what makes my site possible. But don’t feel obligated, and I’ll never know the difference. Also, it doesn’t change the price you pay at all.
1. MedicalAlert-911 (part of Skyway Security) with free shipping and a 30-day return policy. They sell the Freedom Alert for $279, but also have a payment plan that divides the cost into easier payments. They also have Emergency Wall Communicators and lockboxes available. Link:

2. Amazon.com has it from multiple vendors. https://findtherightalert.com/go/logicmarkfreedomalert-amazon
I hope that’s all helpful. Email back if you have more questions!
